Lady with Orchids by InkWorthy Lady with Orchids by InkWorthy
Medium: Brush & Ink

About this Drawing: This was a challenge that took me a whole afternoon & half an evening to complete because it was based off a small (& faded!) reference photo. I think it's a bit confining but it has to be done because you learn a lot from it.

Thank you! It was a challenge & I'm thankful that I managed to finish it! The reference photo was old & faded! :faint:

I'll be adding more art more often from now on - I hope you'll come check them out!

The hair and coat texture are very well done! :)
I miss some details or texture on the orchids though, they don't look much like flowers.

Hey Nel! Thank you!

Actually, the flowers appear that way in the reference photo (just white with curvy lines) since it was very old & overexposed. So there really wasn't much detail to work with - I just imagined they were orchids! :floating:

I figured it's like that :) well you know, my rule is - if the reference photo sucks, I go find another reference photo to see what the thing I'm drawing may look like... so that my drawing looks even better than the reference

:D I would have done that if I had my way. But this drawing was graded! My teacher instructed to draw a copy of the photo in ink as it is. If I added details that weren't found in the photo, I'd have failed! :faint: The purpose of this exercise was to interpret shadow, midtone & highlight :floating: Plus, the old & faded photograph he provided us with was intentional :faint:
